Proud display by UAE in the ICC Six Nations Challenge 2004

The ICC Six Nations Challenge 2004 was won by USA on a net run rate in a closely contested tournament where 5 out of the 6 teams ended with 6 points each. Canada who participated in the last World Cup 2003 in South Africa ended the tournament on a sour note by losing all their matches. By winning this tournament, USA has clinched the last berth for the ICC Knockout Championship 2004 to be held in England in September. Host country UAE who played in the 1996 Cricket World Cup, performed creditably by defeating Canada & Holland who participated in ICC Cricket World Cup 2003. To top that, USA was also beaten by UAE in the group match. UAE skipper Khuram Khan was in good form both with bat and ball and scored a match winning century against the USA team. All this augurs well for UAE who will be participating in the ACC trophy 2004 in June which will be held in Kuala Lumpur. The top two teams in the ACC Trophy 2004 will qualify to play in the ICC trophy 2005 in Ireland. UAE are the defending champions of this tournament having won it twice in a row.
